about two miles north of The Narrows, at 922 Boston Neck Road.

Food:The Pier area offers a wide variety of dining places, ranging from sandwich shops to tony
restaurants. You will find them at Pier Market Place and in the building immediately on the other
side of Kingstown Avenue. Also, along Boon Street from Rodman to Congdon streets, on Ocean
Road between The Towers and Pier 5, and at Pier 5. In addition, food and fruit ices are sold at the
beach pavilions on sunny summer beach days. (Both pavilions are ramped for handicapped
accesibility to the beach as well as the food.)Also see Picnic areas.

Gas station:Taylor's Garage. 118 Narragansett Avenue, at the intersection with Strathmore
Street.

Information:Narragansett Chamber of CommerceVisitors Center, 36 Ocean Road (at The
Towers).

Kayak & canoe rentals:Narrow River Kayaksat 95 Middle Bridge Road, about two miles north
of The Narrows (or about one mile by kayak).

Laundromats:At Pier Market Place, and in the old rail station on Boon Street, at the head of
Congdon Street.

Library:Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, 35 Kingstown Road, adjacent to to the Public Safety

Hours: Mondays to Thursdays, 10 am to 9 pm; Fridays 10 am to 5 pm
From Memorial Day to Labor Day: Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm
Afterward: Saturdays 10 am to 5 pm; Sundays (October 18 to April 11). noon to 4 pm.

Picnic areas: You're welcome to use either of two areas on the South County Museum campus.
Two new picnic tables are located in a shady area on the north lawn of the Museum campus, and
four older ones are adjacent to the Robinson Family Cemetery near the entrance. A trash disposal
unit is located in the parking lot near the four tables. You may need to bring some protection
against mosquitos. No charge.

Shopping:Several retail establishments are located at and near Pier Market Place, and others can

Surfing gear:Warm Winds Surf Shop, at 26 Kingstown Road, is one of the largest such shops in all
of New England. Located between Boon and Caswell streets just west of Pier Market Place.
