Narragansett Pier Historical Walking Tours is an online guidebook to the Pier in its heyday
as a great seaside resort. We include many before-and-after photos of the "cottages" erected
by wealthy residents from about 1870 to 1920, along with images of and information about
the long-gone grand hotels and other structures. Our main sources were two surveys:
Historic and Architectural Resources of Narragansett Pier, produced in 1978 by the Rhode
Island Historical Preservation Commission, and Historic and Architectural Resources of
Narragansett produced in 1991 by the commission in cooperation with the Narragansett
Historical Society. If you find errors in the Walking Tours or have information or pictures
you feel would be appropriate please let us know.
